Discovering the Relevance of Words
I cannot understand why or how the average person is so befuddled and afraid of adverbs.
Maybe it’s the way we teach about them, “they mostly end in -LY”. Oh, realLY? (Though often an adverb it’s an exclamation used to express interest, surprise, and doubt in this instance)
I am tired of hearing that grammar is difficult to understand or use properly. It is no more difficult to understand grammar than it us to understand anything – we’re 2 lazy 2 care. #whateves
My issue is not that people are bad at grammar; my issue is they people don’t care. Imagine going to a cashier, giving the incorrect number of payment and saying “Whatever, I’m just bad at math,” and the cashier gives your you purchases, looks at you, laughs and says, “hashtag YOLO“. RealLY??! (Still not an adverb)
Clearly this would never happen. but somehow its okay to have obvious spelling and grammatical mistakes, such as using the wrong word? That really grinds my gears.
(Yes, that time it was an adverb. Yes, the its/it’s thing was intentional. I hope you noticed and I hope it irked you)
