The Poetry Question

Discovering the Relevance of Words

The Daily Prompt – May 24th

Rules:

1. Use the prompt in the way it’s intended (starting a sentence, the title of the piece, theme, etc)

2. You may write in any format you see fit (fiction, non-fiction, poem, song, script, etc.)

3. Post your piece of writing in the comments section of the website to be considered for the ‘Best Of’ section.

The Prompt:

GROUP WRITE – Today’s prompt will be to write a group poem one couplet at a time.  I will begin with the first couplet, the next person will copy my couplet and add his/her own.  Feel free to add stanza breaks whenever appropriate.  Feel free to contribute more than once (however, please don’t reply to yourself).  We will begin with an AA, BB rhyme scheme but that can change through our collective creativity.

1 – A/A

2 – A/A, B/B

3 – A/A, B/B, C/C

and so it goes…

STARTING COUPLET

Her hands were clenched, her body tense

Her life had changed; it made no sense

Her hands were clenched, her body tense
Her life had changed; it made no sense
    Ignore, regret, have faith, lament
Should she take flight or just repent?
