Discovering the Relevance of Words
In our interviews, Chris often asks people which writer they’d like to sit down and have drink with. I love this question, and not just because I enjoy a drink every now and then. The people we read do say a lot about our personalities.
But it isn’t really the insightful answers that draw me to the question. I like it because it makes ME think of authors I’d like to talk to, and that list is long. It also makes me feel a bit like a lightweight, since I’m sure even the more functional alcoholics among them would drink me under the table. I wouldn’t even sit down with Dylan Thomas or Edgar Allan Poe. Those dudes don’t screw around.
I’ve heard it said that writers often lead lives as interesting as anything they’ve written. I suspect that’s probably true.
Who would you have a drink with? What would you drink? I can think of a few who might take a cup of tea, but watch for the flask. I suspect they may spike it.
