The Poetry Question

Discovering the Relevance of Words

Happy Birthday Mr. Sendak.

I have several “life defining” literary moments, but reading the works of Maurice Sendak sits right up toward the top. I was Pierre  – always getting into the things that I should have let be, always stubborn and arrogant, and always ready to argue over things that I knew would never work out in my favor – okay, so not much has changed in any of those departments. Pierre will forever be etched in my skin, and Sendak will be forever etched in the minds of countless children and adults alike.

Happy Birthday Mr. Sendak; you are missed, but celebrated.
