The Poetry Question

Discovering the Relevance of Words

Daily Prompt- July 2nd

1. Use the prompt in the way it’s intended (starting a sentence, the title of the piece, theme, etc)

2. You may write in any format you see fit (fiction, non-fiction, poem, song, script, etc.)

3. Post your piece of writing in the comments section of the website to be considered for the ‘Best Of’ section.

The Prompt: Heat Wave

It’s summertime here at TPQ HQ, and it’s hot. Extremes of environment can have strange effects on people. Me, for example. I can’t seem to stop writing haiku about how hot it is.

Summertime, and the
Livin’ aint easy. My balls
Are stuck to my leg.

I think we’ve done haiku as a prompt before. But I don’t care. It’s too hot. Write a haiku. Not necessarily about sweaty anatomy in July.*

*But, you know, not necessarily not about that. Use your best judgement.
