Discovering the Relevance of Words

Tour Diary – August 10th P.1 – A Long Day’s Journey Into Denver

Yeah, that picture above is pretty much what we saw for 10 hours yesterday on our drive from Pocatello, Idaho to Denver, Colorado. Sure, the rock formations were incredible, the canyons were canyon-y, and the dead deer, skunks, and cats all over the roadside were, well, dead. Oh, and my catalytic converter suffered a conversion toward the non-working end of things. Whatever, fuck the planet – it can breathe my car’s fumes for the next several thousand miles. At least the guy at the Toyota we pulled into said it would be perfectly fine until we get back to Portland. It’s only then that I’ll have to drop the $1400 into it. Funny how I passed DEQ with flying colors last week.

Luckily, yesterday was a day off, so while the 10 hour drive was hell, we didn’t have to stress that we were going to miss a show. Tonight we play out at The Walnut room on Broadway. Then back to a friend’s place, where we’ll sleep for a few hours before trekking off to Fargo…. yep, you all just made the accent in your head. 15 hours on the road for tomorrow.

Dead skunks smell like asparagus pee.
