Mood Setting Monday – Kanye West – Late Orchestration


There are few more polarizing artists than Kanye West. I’m the only member of The Poetry Question who truly likes him, but I think a lot of that comes from watching him on Def Jam poetry over the years, and understanding that while he truly does believe he’s the greatest artist of all time, he’s also one of the most talented lyricists to ever touch the microphone. If you actually listen to his lyrics, he’s much smarter than he comes off, and he’s willing to touch on the ironies of real life – unfortunately, because of his genre, the irony sometimes gets lost.

Do yourself a favor, and before you truly say you “hate” Kanye West, listen to his lyrics – at least click the couple of Def Jam poetry clips below.
