The Poetry Question

Discovering the Relevance of Words

QOTD – October 10 – The Musical Roller Coaster

I spend too much time thinking about musical “Top 5” lists.

Top 5 jazz artists before 1960: Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Thelonius Monk, Art Blakley

Top 5 contemporary pop artists under 21 who will have careers lasting longer than 10 years: Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Lordes, Jayden Smith, Earl Sweatshirt

Top 5 under-appreciated singer / songwriters with a dark, romantic twist: David Ramirez, Matthew Mayfield, Gregory Alan Isakov, Denison Witmer, William Fitzsimmons

Top 5 artists to listen to while coping with writers block: Miles Davis, Bon Iver, Elliott Smith, Drake, DJ Quick

Poetry and music – even music without lyrics – are so closely tied, that I don’t question whether or not this QOTD works.

What are your Top 5 most powerful morning anthems?
