The Daily Prompt – October 14 – A New Week


1. Use the prompt in the way it’s intended (starting a sentence, the title of the piece, theme, etc)

2. You may write in any format you see fit (fiction, non-fiction, poem, song, script, etc.)

3. Post your piece of writing in the comments section of the website to be considered for the ‘Best Of’ section.


The Prompt:

Write a 4 line poem about starting the week with a fresh perspective.

Chris Margolin spent more than a decade in Education as a high school English teacher, and is now an Instructional Coach for the Longview School District. He is also the founder of The Poetry Question, an online journal which focuses on reviews of small press poetry publications, and runs a regular series called "The Power of Poetry," where notable poets share their personal stories of how poetry has affected their lives. Margolin resides in Vancouver, Washington with his wife, and daughter.

    I look ahead on todays date,

    feet planted on the present,

    influenced by the past and looking at a new direction….

    I have a difficult time understanding the logic.

    Though it’s early in the week,
    Things are looking up it seems,
    I’m actually doing something with my life,
    I guess things might turn out alright.
