    Momma!

    I could punch the air!
    What…I’m a momma’s boy
    cuz she bought me toys
    when my eyes turned moist?
    Because she cut my hair
    or tended the booboos
    when the bullies got rude
and made my strawberry skin tear?

    I am God’s golden child!
    I sneak by you undetected.
This one time, at band camp,
    I died then resurrected
from the dead—I can even fly
If I want, but I’d rather lie here in bed
    and flaunt my epic skills
(and maybe try calling momma again).

All day, on this stupid level I’ve been.
    Plasma cannon depleted?
    I don’t need this, dammit!
    Time to call a friend
    or poll the audience,
    or shout-out my frustration
to God in heaven, fists clenching
at this parlor trick of impossible levels.

Extra life’s gone in a digital second.
I’m disheveled; my mission ended again,
    unraveled then went dead,
    and now everything’s red
and pixelated. Where’s the heck is momma
    when I’m needing?
I just cant seem to get out of bed
    and ready for my feeding.
