Discovering the Relevance of Words
It’s the time of year when all the major entertainment magazines start releasing their “2013 Best of Blah Blah Blah” lists. I find it all pretty humorous, and then I like to watch the sales numbers jump after Best Mag Quarterly says that Album by So-So-and-the-no-one-knows-them tops the list. It says a lot about the way that media truly controls its audience. Every year, our local hipster rag publishes a top 10 list of bands that have barely played shows in town, but are somehow the GREATEST BANDS EVER, and then they race back into obscurity, but not before selling way too many copies of their never-to-be-listened-to-again album.
So, let’s jump past the pseudo-mainstream-media, and send it out to you:
What is your “2013 best of” list? It might not be something that came out this year, but maybe something of which you’ve discovered this year, and fallen in love.
