Discovering the Relevance of Words
Maybe I’m boring.
Maybe I’m too predictable.
Whatever the reason, there a few books that I read over and over again. Every year or so I’ll pick up Stephen King’s It or Alan Moore’s Watchmen and let myself be absorbed into the familiar stories as if I had never experienced them before.
It is not a rare thing to see the same books in the basket beside my toilet for years. Decades even.
Some people think it’s a strange habit. They don’t understand why I would pick up a book I’ve already finished. That’s the word they use, finished. As if it was a chore.
More interestingly, these are often the same people who buy their favorite movies on Blu Ray so they can watch them again and again.
Maybe I am strange for seeking out my most beloved books as often as I do, but I doubt that I am alone.
What are you re-reading? Why?
