Discovering the Relevance of Words
Lucius Malfoy. The worst.
I was watching one of the Harry Potter movies the other day, and it struck me just how good it would probably feel to grab Lucius Malfoy by his beautiful blond hair and punch his face until I could no longer lift my arm. I’m almost ashamed to admit all of this, but even typing that sentence just now made me smile a little. Violence is never the answer, you guys. I know that. But sometimes you’re not looking for answers.
I mean, that guy was the worst, right?
Good fiction absorbs the reader into a world where imaginary people from the pages of a book become just as real, or, in some cases, more so, than the people in the real world. (For examples of this phenomenon, please refer to the theme song for Reading Rainbow.) Not only do we love many of these characters that populate our fictional worlds, we also hate some of them. Really hate them. And those characters are in many ways the most memorable.
Who is your most hated character in fiction?
