The Poetry Question

Discovering the Relevance of Words

QOTD – February 21 – Words and Workouts

I am a pretty busy person, and I don’t usually get a set amount of time each day to sit down and read. Knowing that, I’ve started to take advantage of the fact that my Kindle is light enough to take to the gym, and read while I do some cardio. I’m not always the most gym-driven person, so I’ll take any excuse I can in order to get myself there. It’s been a pretty welcomed change to get home from work, toss on my workout clothes, grab my kindle, and take care of an hour of cardio a few days a week. I have found that I have a much easier time actually working out when there are either words on my screen, or audio books in my ear. If there’s music, I find that I’m changing songs all the time, or that I’m getting bored of the type of music playing. I know that if I leave the gym, there’s a good change that I won’t finish what I’m reading, so I tend to stay a bit longer.

Question for you:

What do you listen to, or read, when you work out, and do you feel like it helps to motivate your gym days?

I normally just listen to Pandora on random when I’m at the gym. The other day I was on the treadmill and “Rapper’s Delight, the extended version” came on, I have never had 14 minutes go by so fast before. I did not even notice I was working out. Gotta love The Sugarhill Gang!
