#TPQ5: MEGHA SOOD

Deaf Republic – Ilya Kaminsky

This book is an epic. Ilya Kaminsky brilliant and stunning power to re-envision silence as a power to express the political unrest of the citizens in a occupied country is a stark reflection of the current time.

Calling a Wolf a Wolf – Kaveh Akbar

Kaveh Akbar stunning writing in this book speaks of his hunger for poetry and his previous alcoholic addiction in the most profound ways. I love the way he uses his metaphors and uses his native language interspersed in beautiful words. His skillfully uses his understanding and ignorance of his mother tongue.

The Art of Topiary – Jan Wagner

I was absolutely stunned by the brilliant exposition of the beauty and the profoundness in nature expressed through the short poems in this book. The delicacy by which every object has been transcribed into poetry is truly marvelous.”

A Primer for Poets and Readers of Poetry – Gregory Orr

This is my go-to book to learn about the craft of poetry and its nuances from a professor in creative writing for forty years and also the founder of the MFA program at the University of Virginia. It’s an accessible guide for poetry writing from one of the best in the Literary field.

We Will Not Be Silenced – Indie Blue Press

We Will not be silenced is a living testament of how the collective voices of survivors can be turned into the roaring declaration of strength, determination, and courage. It is a powerful exposition of how the courage of the survivors can be a shining beacon for those whose voices have gone unheard.
