#TPQ5: ROBIN McNAMARA

Dylan Thomas

Dylan Thomas was an early influence as everyone knows the poem, Do not go gentle into that good night I was intrigued to read more of his work. His life fascinated me and after reading his biography, I read more of his poetry. Fern Hill is one of my favourites.

Robert Frost

When I first picked up a copy of a collection of Robert Frost Poems published in 2002, In Copenhagen I also read his autobiography which tells a lot about the man behind the poetry. Frost has influenced some of my nature poems. Mending Wall is a personal favorite of mine.

Seamus Heaney

The works of Seamus Heaney is something I’m trying to read more of. This Irish poet who passed away in 2013 is in my opinion, the greatest Irish poet ever. Read his poems, Blackberry Picking and Digging and make your own mind up.

Stephen James Smith

Stephen James Smith is the author of Fear Not. This Dublin Spoken word poet has Influenced some of my poetry and his style resonates with the common man. Standout poems include, Dublin You Are and Everything.

Ankh Spice

I cannot complete this without mentioning the special talents of New Zealand poet, Ankh Spice. His talent with words just leaves you breathless. Hasn’t published a collection of poetry yet but it’s just a matter of time. Nominated for the 2020 Pushcart Prize.
